The Fletcher Barrework™ program offers a systematic approach to teaching the Pilates Movement Principles in standing. Fletcher Barre™ begins with basic leg and foot technique and lower hemisphere articulation and tracking, and progresses to an elegant (and accessible) movement program with equal attention to precision and flowing motion. Although ballet terminology is introduced, the guiding intention of this program is to improve movement articulation, core initiation and bring the Pilates technique to standing.
Primary benefits of the Fletcher Barrework™
- Teach the Pilates Movement Principles in Standing;
- Improve foot strength and articulation;
- Improve spinal articulation;
- Increase hamstring, hip flexor and lower back strength and flexibility
Fletcher Towelwork® is a signature Fletcher Pilates technique, developed over the course of 4 decades. Originally created to stabilize and balance the shoulder girdle, basic Towelwork can be taught to beginner clients and patients as an effective home exercise program. Fletcher Towelwork® is versatile and can be adapted to standing, seated, supine and prone positions. Utilizing the Fletcher Braided Towel, a complete Towelwork program ranges from simple stabilization and range of motion exercises to beautifully complex movement patterns that challenge advanced students and athletes alike.
Primary Benefits of Fletcher Towelwork®
- Enhance stabilization of shoulder girdle;
- Increase expansion of the chest and length of anterior shoulder muscles;
- Correct forward head posture;
- Increase ranage of motion in the thoracic and cervical spine;
- Prepare the shoulder girdle for weight bearing activity.
Ron Fletcher’s early study with Joesph and Clara Pilates, Yeichi Nimura, Martha Graham, and Agnes De Mille has given the Fletcher Floorwork® a distinctive artistic flare. While the Fletcher Floorwork® maintains the intention and basic technique and mechanics of the original Pilates matwork, it introduces thoughtful, creative and precise movement patterns that depart from the classic matwork structure. These patterns were developed through an in-depth exploration of breath and both dimension and quality of movement.
The Fletcher Pilates® Program Overview is based on Ron Fletcher’s philosophy of “knowing movement in the body”. The Overview encourages experiencing each piece of movement in the program before learning to teach it. The Program Overview is designed to cover all beginning/intermediate material included in the Comprehensive Program of Study. It is a 30-hour program, generally taught in 3-hour sessions. Participating in the Program Overview is the ideal way to prepare to enter the Ron Fletcher Comprehensive Program of Study.
